Precision surface cleaning of labels and tags (down to .3µm particles) requires a combination of different processes to achieve the cleanliness levels needed in today’s critical cleanroom environments. Most suppliers of cleanroom labels, tags and forms offer no proof of actual particulate removal. They may produce and package product in a clean environment, but the .3µm and above particles are still there. In addition, the vast majority of suppliers still attempt to relate cleanliness levels of their product to an ISO 14644 or Federal Standard 209 E standard which deals with particles per cubic foot of air, not particles on a surface of a label, tag or form. Most cleanroom label and tag manufacturers convert on narrow webs (usually 7 or 10 inches wide). Genesis WWT can convert up to a 16 inch wide web. This increase in capabilities allows for increased production in the same amount of time. A 16 inch process will produce 128% more labels and tags than a 7 inch press and 60% more labels and tags than a 10 inch press in the same amount of time.
